    With so many people of Mexican descent in the Phoenix area, it’s no wonder that Cinco de Mayo is a day much anticipated in the Valley of the Sun.  Arizonan’s celebrate all over the Valley with food & festivals!
    May 19.  Noon to 6pm.  Scottsdale Civic Center – 3939 North Drinkwater Boulevard Scottsdale, AZ 85251.  SanTan Brewing presents the 2nd Annual Ameri”CAN” Canned Craft Beer Festival supporting and celebrating the craft beer movement during the recognized American Craft Beer Week.
    May 19 & 20 at Salt River Fields.   Pit masters from Arizona and around the country serve    up their best barbeque in celebration of the art, and also to compete for a prize from the event’s $40,000 purse; the Grand Champion takes home 10,000!
    The Desert Botanical Gardens has so many events going on in May, you will want to visit more than once!  This May Ballet Arizona has teamed up the Garden to present Topia, a ballet created by Ib Andersen and inspired by the natural beauty of the Sonoran desert landscape.  In addition, ‘Music in the Garden’ continues to entertain throughout May, as well as many other events for both adults and children alike.
    Visit Tempe Center for the Arts to view “Arizona Landscapes”.  This exhibition honors the states Centennial and the creative spirit of the artists and landscapes that inspire those who live, work and play in Arizona.
    Scottsdale ArtWalk is much like a large, easy-going open house for the Scottsdale Arts District located primarily along Main Street and Marshall Way in Scottsdale Downtown. “America’s Original ArtWalk,” this weekly gathering takes place every Thursday evening (year-round, except Thanksgiving) between 7 and 9 pm.
